• Is electrolysis the same as laser?

No, electrolysis and laser are two different methods of hair removal.
Electrolysis is FDA and AMA-approved as the only permanent hair removal solution.
Laser hair removal is permanent reduction only, and is not ideal for face work.
However, electrolysis and laser can be performed conjunctively to achieve permanent hair removal on large areas of the body.

    Electrolysis:
∙ FDA and AMA-approved for permanent hair removal
∙ Works on all skin and hair types
∙ Ideal for concentrated hair growth on hormonally targeted areas of the body, including face and neck

  • Is electrolysis treatent painful?

Electrolysis was designed to be tolerable and, most importantly, effective. Most clients find treatment to be tolerable without the aid of numbing creams - but you are welcome to apply up to 5% lidocaine to assist with the sensation of treatment.

For those who are particularly sensitive, stronger numbing aids are available by prescription from your primary care doctor.

    Helpful Hints:
∙ Avoid caffeine prior to your appointment
    ∙ Drink plenty of water
∙ Take a small amount your preferred over-the-counter pain-relief medication

  • How long does it take?

It is important to know that permanent hair removal does not happen overnight. A series of treatments are required to achieve life-long results.

The most crucial part of electrolysis is remaining consistent in your appointments, as we are working with your hair's natural growth cycles. Consistency is key!

Treatment takes an average of 12-18 months to achieve full permanence. Larger and more dense areas may require additional treatments, which can be discussed during a consultation.

Most clients begin with weekly or bi-monthly appointments. As treatment progresses, appointments will diminish in both frequency and duration.

  • Does electrolysis cause any side effects on the skin?

After each treatment, a small amount of redness and sensitivity can be expected. A cataphoresis after-treatment is performed after all appointments to promote lymphatic drainage, reducing swelling and redness in the affected area.

While the intensity varies with each individual, it is best to follow the post-care instructions provided at your first appointment.

  • Is electrolysis expensive?

The overall cost of treatment is directly related to the amount of hair you have. While it is pricey compared to temporary methods like waxing, tweezing, and shaving - the continuous use and cost of these methods is quickly outweighed by 1-2 years of electrolysis providing life-long results.

  • Do I need to be 18+ to receive electrolysis?

Teenage years can be difficult, and navigating life while dealing with hormonal hair growth can certainly introduce unnecessary embarrassment and stress.
